Tony Boombozz Pizzeria – Italian Week!
This place has won so many awards, that I probably don’t even have to tell you how good it is. But I will: It’s good.
Harry and I stopped in for lunch last week because I remembered how cheap their personal pizzas are ($2.99 for cheese, toppings are additional.) They also have great Panino Sandwiches that aren’t as inexpensive, but worth every cent.
I ordered the personal pizza with pepperoni (love the alliteration there). It’s just the right size, and again, I really can’t believe the price for the quality pizza they make here.
Harry got the Portobello Panino sandwich, which came with kettle chips. It’s served on a buttery Italian Flatbread with parmesan cheese sprinkled all over it. Being vegetarian, this one hit home for Harry: Marinated Portobello Mushrooms, Fresh Spinach, Roasted Red Peppers & Fontina Cheese. Harry didn’t leave a crumb.
On previous visits, I’ve gotten the Pesto Chicken Panino: Grilled Chicken, Roasted Red Peppers, Mozzarella & Basil Pesto…yum! And their “Famous Creation” pizzas are all worthy of writing home about (see their website for more detail): Chicken Fajita, BBQ Chicken, Pesto Roma, Pollotate. No wonder they’ve won so many awards. You can also get all of these in a personal size for lunch (11am-4pm, Mon-Fri) for $5.49.
If you’re looking for an inexpensive place in the HIghlands for something more than a slice, I recommend this place highly!
Oh, and I’ve heard that they’re expanding soon! The nail salon and dry cleaners are both moving out, and Tony’s taking over all 3 spots, adding an extensive beer list, dining room, and more…similar to their Springhurst and Jeffersontown locations. YES!

I absolutely LOVE BoomBozz breadsticks. You know, the ones that are drenched in garlic butter & parmesan cheese… I actually went a full month or so eating those every day for lunch when I worked on Frankfort Ave.
The bad part of that is that I think they are moving away from them. Their Springhurst location doesn’t serve them. I’ve asked Tony P about that and apparently they have to slow the oven down just for the breadsticks, so from the business side I guess it makes sense. I just hate to see them go!
