J. Gumbo’s

Although this is technically a chain restaurant (and we don’t review chains here…we all know what they taste like), this place (formerly Gumbo-a-Go-Go) started here and it’s still kinda small, unlike the taste and portions of this cajun fast-casual restaurant.

Genny’s Diner & Pub

SUBTITLE: Mmmmm Good.

When I first moved to Louisville about 12-13 years ago, there was a commercial that ran on late-night cable that made a lasting impression on me. If you’re from around here, you definitely know what I’m talking about. If not, please allow me to reminisce about this commercial that is sooo bad it’s good: […]

North End Café

Last week, I was wanting a really good burger. If you’ve been reading here long, that’s not a surprise to you. Nothing like a good cheeseburger to ease the pain. Jam and I debated on going to BBC, but I’d be too tempted to get one of their excellent beers. Beer and lunch are one sure way to get nothing done the rest of the day. Then, I realized we hadn’t reviewed North End Cafe. Away we went.

This is probably one of the best breakfasts in town. Their lunch ain’t half bad either. Come to think of it, it’s a good place for dinner and drinks as well. What can’t this place do?

Jade Garden

Chinese buffets…love ’em or hate ’em. I love ’em. Jam loves ’em. Our wives…not so much. Jade Garden Chinese Buffet is, needless to say, one of our Louisville Lunch hotspots. […]

Kentucky Barbecue Company (formerly Bourbon Brothers BBQ)

Wow…another awesome barbecue restaurant on Frankfort Avenue? I’m in hog heaven.

Kentucky Barbecue Company (formerly known as Bourbon Brothers BBQ back on Brownsboro Road) now occupies the old Café LouLou location at the corner of Frankfort Ave and Pope Street in Louisville’s historic Clifton area. Their pulled pork barbecue is better than I remember, although a bit more expensive and larger than I remember also. SOOO worth it. […]

El Mundo

I think at least one of my parents must secretly be from Mexico. I would eat this food every day of the week if I could. I mostly love that there are like 5-10 ingredients, but hundreds, nay, thousands of scrumptious possibilities.

So, being such a Mexican food junkie, I know you’ll be surprised to know that I have never been to El Mundo before Jam and I headed out the other day. It’s like, a sin or something, right? This is THE hipster spot for gettin’ yo’ burrito and margarita on, right? Well, let ’em have it…I’ll be at El Caporal. […]

Bussman’s Bakery

Jam’s on this new diet, where he has to get dessert after lunch. It’s kinda fun, you should try it.

As we passed Bussman’s Bakery on our way to the Beer Depot, Jam mentioned that this (along with like 5 other bakeries in town) was the best bakery in Louisville. We figured we’d stop on the way back. I mean, it’s the best, right? You can’t not go… […]
