Wick’s Pizza
Wick’s is one of those places that almost doesn’t need a review. You’ve more than likely been there before, and either really love it or not so much. Me? I love it. My wife thinks they put too much cheese on their pizza. There is no such thing as too much cheese on a pizza in my humble opinion. That’s like saying there’s too much wet in this water. After the jump, read on about how delicious Wick’s Pizza is…
Jam and I always mention Wick’s located in the heart of the beautiful Highlands, but until last week, never stopped in for a review. We called ahead to try and beat the lunch rush, but we got trapped at the office, and by the time we got there, the waitress told us she was wondering if we’d show up. The pizza came out with our drinks, and after the waitress kept apologizing that it might not be hot enough, it was PERFECT. I hate nothing more than burning my mouth on scalding cheese.
We ordered the Wick’s Bacon & Ranch (12″ – $17.50!!) and a couple sodas. The pizza was excellent. Creamy ranch sauce with chicken (not huge chunks that come off with every bite) and lots of good ol’ bacon. You really can’t go wrong when bacon comes to the party. I think even my wife would have enjoyed the amount of cheese on there, while sufficient enough even for me, it wasn’t too much.
Wick’s crust has always been a highlight for me. I like bread. I like thick crust. We’re like a match made in heaven.
In the past, I’ve been a big fan of their Stuffed Breadwick ($4.50), which is a large breadstick stuffed with Pepperoni and Cheese. It’s listed as an appetizer, but it’s enough for a hearty lunch. I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t like. Sure, the tie-dye and trying to fit the word “Wick” in the name of 1/2 the menu items gets a bit tiring (Wick-a-Dilla? Fettuccini Alwicko? Really???), but it’s really all about the food. Might I suggest trying to use “Garwick” on the next menu revision? Please credit to Sammy at LouisvilleLunch.com. You’re Wickome.

I love the veggie stromboli. Pure perfection on a bun. Oh-I just realized I haven’t eaten!
I like Wick’s, but I’ve always thought of it as a less-flavorful version of the Impellizzeri’s pie. With Impellizzeri’s so close, I hardly ever eat at the Highlands location anymore.
The Wickicheese (5 cheese pizza) is my favorite!
Speaking of Impellizzeri’s, they are opening a new location at Holiday Manor in the east end, where Pizza Hut used to be. Now if only Spinellis would get on the ball with their GooseCreek location the east end would have it made!
