Molly Malone’s Irish Pub and Restaurant – Irish Week!

Nothing’s better than dining alfresco in the early Spring, especially while enjoying a nice beverage in the all-too-familiar Irish setting on Baxter Avenue. Jam, his wife and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and put their fish sandwich to the test. Read along if you will…

Jam ordered a hard cider with his lunch (to which his wife replied, “I thought only girls drank cider”…ouch), while Mrs. Jam and I stuck with the soft stuff (Coke). We all decided on the Molly’s Beer Battered Fish Sandwich ($7.95). I watched two ladies at the table next to ours order one and split it between the two of them…awesome, I thought, it’s gonna fill me up!

The friendly, Irish-accented waiter brought our three large fish sandwiches, complete with “chips” (AKA Fries) out quickly. I’ve just recently come around to liking tartar sauce, I’m typically more of a plain mayo type fella. Theirs was good, not too “pickley”. The fish was indeed large, almost too big for the delicious Kaiser Roll it was served on. Near the end of the spectacular sandwich, the thing was just falling apart.

The crispy fries were so good they didn’t need ketchup. That’s one way I judge fries, I think if they’re good enough, salt is all you need.

I’d say, their fish is pretty dern good. I think the quality bun takes it a step above most others. If it were a battle (which I think I’ve made it here) between Dublin’s Cellar, O’Shea’s, and Molly’s, I’d say O’Sheas is the top dog, followed VERY closely with Molly Malone’s and Dublin’s Cellar a distant third.

Try ’em all! They’ve all got outdoor dining!
